This is without one of the best places we camped while road tripping South Island in terms of amenities + family orientation and convenience. There was large men and women’s bathrooms with plenty of shower facilities as well as unlimited time in showers which were hot and had good pressure. The large kitchen faculties have a gorgeous outlook onto the lake; they came with additional cooking utensils. There was also laundry and bbq. We stayed on a powered campervan site with this stunning view right in front of us. It’s a small quiet site in a suburb of Queenstown, we walked into the main centre, although sadly the lake walk was closed, the water taxi ride back took about 15 minutes and what a thrill ride that was, bumping over the waves. The camp’s shared areas were immaculate, toilets, sinks, showers were a pleasure to use, thanks to both their staff and I guess guests for having the courtesy to think of others and have h

This is easily my No.1 paid campervan site in the entire South Island of New Zealand, and that’s coming from someone who has toured the south extensively. Located in the quiet suburbs of Frankton, about 6km from Queenstown town centre, Driftaway is perfect if you value peace, space, and scenery. We loved how quaint and calm it was, paired with absolutely stunning sunsets and mountain views. It’s just a st
