Copts are the collective term for Egyptian Christians. Coptic Cairo is considered part of Old Cairo and is an important center for Christian history. It not only contains rich historical sites but is also famous for its iconic churches, including Saints Sergius and Bacchus Church, the Hanging Church, St. George’s Church, the Coptic Museum, and the Fortress of Babylon.

Quiet nunnery which is away from St George’s church. You will come across the entrance once you come down flight of stairs leading to various churches and past the vendors. Huge wooden carved door here is amazing.

I may be wrong but the patron saint of England seems to live on there mainly on pub signs. Well in Egypt there is a magnificent church in his honour, by the gifts left there it is obviously well attended. It was quiet whilst we was there so we could take in the atmosphere of the place.

1600 year old Greek church still stand tall which tells about the Egyptian acceptance and tolerance of saving and preserving other religious buildings and surroundings. Very nicely preserved. The guard was very keen to tell about the historical perspective. We enjoyed it here.
